Paintings by Piedmont Macon Cancer Patients on Display This Week

Macon, Ga. (June 17, 2024) – In recognition of National Cancer Survivors Month, a collection of artwork created by cancer survivors who participated in Piedmont Macon’s creative healing art class will be on display this week at the Museum of Arts and Sciences.

Beginning today through Friday, June 21, the exhibit can be seen in the lobby of the museum located at 4182 Forsyth Road.

“A cancer diagnosis can be a life-changing event, and the creative healing art class offers a unique opportunity for survivors to find solace and express themselves creatively,” said Kimberly Lewis, manager of Oncology Services at Piedmont Macon. “It is just one of the many ways Piedmont Macon supports cancer patients in our community throughout their treatment journeys.”

The art class is a free, instructor-led painting experience specifically designed for cancer survivors. The class is offered every other month at Piedmont Macon and provides a supportive environment for participants to explore their creativity, embrace fellowship with other cancer survivors and find comfort in self-expression.

In addition to viewing the artwork, museum visitors this week also can learn more about Piedmont Macon’s comprehensive cancer care program and screenings that are available.
