Macon, Ga. (February 19, 2025) – Piedmont has expanded access to primary care options in Macon with the opening of its first local primary care location, Piedmont Primary Care at Charter Blvd.
The new location is on the fourth floor, Suite 402, of Piedmont Macon North Hospital’s Medical Office Building at 420 Charter Blvd.
“We are excited to be able to expand access to quality care in Macon as we know patients in some areas of the state can have long waits for an appointment to be seen by a primary care provider,” said Michelle Fisher, Piedmont’s President of Primary Care & Retail Services. “Having a network of primary care providers here will help the community stay ahead of their long-term health by providing convenient access.”
Primary care providers (PCPs), including doctors and advanced practice practitioners, are important in helping manage the overall health of patients. PCPs have a wide range of responsibilities including regular checkups, developing plans to help to prevent diseases, coordinating care, and diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries and other health conditions.
“Having another avenue for patients to work with a medical professional to monitor and manage their health and underlying health issues is a great win for the community,” said Stephen J. Daugherty, CEO of Piedmont Macon. “These new providers will be a great asset in developing personalized and preventative care for each patient that can lead to more positive health outcomes.”
Syed W. Rizvi, M.D., is now accepting new patients ages 18 and up at Piedmont Primary Care at Charter Blvd., and more providers will be joining in the coming months.
Dr. Rizvi received his medical degree from Dow Medical College at the University of Karachi and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Bridgeport Hospital Internal Medicine Program.
He treats diseases of the adult population including hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, GERD, with emphasis on prevention care and physicals. His special interests are diseases of the GI tract and preventive care.
Appointments are available for services such as well and sick visits, annual exams, vaccinations and immunizations, preventative care, women’s health and wellness, and more. Patients will also have access to same-day appointments, online scheduling, and video visits for safe access to Piedmont’s care team.
