Columbus, Ga. (February 18, 2025) – February is heart month and the American Heart Association donated 700 infant CPR kits to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown. This donation is valued at $23,000 and was made possible by a grant thanks to generous community support.
The kits help teach loved ones and babysitters how to administer CPR in an emergency so they won't have to wait for first responders to arrive. Visit Heart.org/CPRinformation to learn more and watch an instruction video.
As the regional perinatal center, the Level III NICU at Piedmont Columbus Regional provides subspecialty care and comprehensive services for at-risk and medically fragile newborns in a comfortable, supportive environment. The Neonatal Transport Team, made up of nurses and a registered respiratory therapist, ensures babies from 21 surrounding counties are brought to the NICU in a specialty ambulance and cared for when they need it most.
