Piedmont Columbus Regional Weight Loss Surgery

Thank you for considering the Bariatric Surgery Program at Piedmont Columbus Regional for your weight loss journey. Dr. Copperwheat, who leads the bariatric surgery team, is a board-certified general surgeon, and a fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon. His practice focuses on the surgical treatment of the disease of obesity, and its many related comorbidities. He is able to perform a complete workup and evaluation from office consultations, to both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, as well as surgical management. The surgical procedures he performs include, but are not limited to, sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), roux-en-y gastric bypass, single-anastomosis duodenal switch (SADI), bilopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD-DS) and revisional bariatric surgeries. Additionally, he is able to perform many incisionless therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

In the past five years, hundreds of patients have been treated for morbid obesity at Piedmont Columbus Regional. The experience, training and expertise of our physicians makes our bariatric program the only one of its kind in the region.
