Heart disease and cardiovascular risk factors contribute to more death and disability worldwide than any other medical condition. As the prevalence of heart disease continues to increase, the need for research is more critical than ever.
At Piedmont Heart, we actively engage in leading-edge cardiac research, helping to identify and evaluate new diagnostic, preventive and critical care treatments and technologies.
The objective of the Piedmont Heart research program is to offer diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients that may otherwise not be accessible in routine clinical practice. Our cardiac research program is focused on the evaluation of novel devices and medications – many of which are not yet available outside of a clinical trial – for the prevention and treatment of heart diseases.
Current Studies
Current studies are focused on discovering innovative new treatment options for patients dealing with cardiovascular diseases such as:
- Arrhythmia disorders
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Coronary artery disease
- Valvular disease
- Congestive heart failure
We’re doing our part to drive the future of cardiac care through a highly successful research program that represents both investigator-initiated and sponsored clinical trials. In fact, for many studies, Piedmont Heart is a nationally and internationally recognized leading center for clinical trial performance, and many trials are represented by Piedmont leadership.
Our success is measured by improvement in patient welfare, presentations and publications and advancement of care through new drug or device approval.
Our team takes great pride when an experimental or trial treatment makes it through years of review and approval to become a new standard of cardiac care – since every new discovery can be the difference between life and death for thousands of patients.
