At Piedmont Cartersville, we believe in the philosophy of Family-Centered Care. As a result, we embrace a family-centered care philosophy on every level to help our patients and their families feel comfortable, cared for and important to us as we deliver quality service.

All licensed personnel are:

NRP-certified (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
STABLE-certified (Sugar, Thermoregulation, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab and Emotional Support)
BLS-certified (Basic Life Support)

Labor, Delivery and Postpartum

We offer seven Labor-Delivery-Recovery (LDR) rooms. The comfortably furnished rooms feature all of the technical equipment required for monitoring and delivery and feature special amenities, such as recliners, rocking chairs, a television and a private bath. The unit's family-centered care philosophy features minimal visitor restrictions and flexible rooming-in policies.

Our labor and delivery rooms allow the entire birth process to be completed in a home-like setting. After delivery and recovery, our postpartum rooms allow the mother and baby to stay together in the same room. Our physicians and nurses are committed to caring for families in a relaxed, private, and supportive environment.

All Labor and Delivery nurses complete the AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses) Fetal Monitoring Competency program and Advanced Fetal Monitoring. These nurses are here to answer any questions that you or your family may have.

Maternity Classes

Our Childbirth Education Class is held monthly and educates expectant mothers about their pregnancy, baby and strategies for labor and delivery. This comprehensive childbirth class includes breathing and relaxation techniques and a tour of the labor and delivery unit.

Cartersville Medical Center is located at 960 Joe Frank Harris Parkway. Parking is available in the front and North Tower entrance parking lots. Drop off and pick up is currently available at the Emergency Department entrance.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please enter through the Emergency Department entrance.
All who enter will be screened with a series of questions, will have their temperature read and will be given a mask to wear in common areas of the hospital.
Once inside, please follow signs to South Tower Elevators to Mother/Baby Care on the 2nd Floor.
Upon exiting the elevator on the 2nd Floor, please notify staff by pressing the doorbell for entrance to our secure Mother/Baby unit.

Should you require a C-section, we have a dedicated OR suite located on the Labor & Delivery Unit with the same cross-trained staff from L&D. Your designated support person may accompany unless general anesthesia is used.

Spacious Labor & Delivery suite with an abundance of natural light and pullout sleeper for designated support person. Labor, delivery and the first few hours of recovery all take place in the suite. We support the rooming-in model, where mom and baby are together 100% of the time (or as much as possible), to promote early bonding and feeding.

Panda Warmer: State of the art neonatal warmer that supports baby’s transition into the world with basic technology needed for non-invasive treatment.
We have a Level 1 Nursery with the ability to stabilize for transport any infants requiring higher levels of care.

A “New Additions” meal is provided for each new mom and her designated support person.
Our Post-Partum rooms are private and spacious, each with a pullout sleeper and access to a hospital-grade breast pump, as needed.
