Common Conditions

Pulmonary screenings

Our lung specialists offer advanced pulmonary diagnostics, such as esophageal and endobronchial ultrasound and lung biopsies, to provide you with an accurate diagnosis.

Our other pulmonary diagnostics include:

  • Bronchoscopy: A bronchoscopy is a visual examination of the air passages leading into the lungs using a bronchoscope, a long, thin tube with a camera on the tip. Bronchoscopies are used to diagnose conditions involving the lungs and trachea, including bleeding, difficulty breathing, chest pain or obstructions in the airway.
  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS): EBUS allows computed tomography (CT) surgeons and pulmonologists to diagnose lung cancer by visualizing lymph nodes and surrounding vessels in real time via ultrasound while viewing the endoscopic image.
  • Low-dose CT screenings: Low-dose CT scans effectively detect lung cancer in current and former smokers with no lung cancer symptoms. If you're at high risk and regularly screened, any cancer will be found at an earlier, more treatable stage.
  • Navigational bronchoscopy: This advanced technology uses CT imaging converted into a 3D map of your lungs. Doctors use this map to remove a biopsy (tissue sample) of your lungs for analysis. We can use this minimally invasive procedure to access hard-to-reach areas of the lungs without the need for surgery.
  • Pulmonary function testing: Pulmonary function tests are breathing tests that indicate how well your lungs are working. These tests assess how much air you can blow out, how much air your lungs can hold and how hard you can blow air out.
