Columbus Foundation's Scholarship Opportunities
The Foundation is proud to offer a wide range of scholarship opportunities for our Piedmont Columbus Regional nurses and staff. Whether participating in continuing education or pursuing an ADN or BSN degree, the Foundation has many education funds to help you pursue your education and career goals.
The Bunch McClellan Education Fund is named in honor of Mary Frances A. Bunch McClellan, RN. This fund supports nursing and caregiver education at Piedmont Columbus Regional through annual scholarships, continuing education opportunities, and conferences.
The LaQuita Dowdell-Rogers Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of LaQuita Dowdell-Rogers, RN – daughter of M.A. Dowdell, a long-time employee with the Piedmont Family Practice. The fund supports nurses or caregivers currently enrolled in nursing school who are seeking a nursing degree.
The Mary Ann Pease Scholarship Fund, sponsored by the Piedmont Columbus Regional Auxiliary, may be awarded twice a year to Piedmont Columbus Regional employees furthering their health science (non-nursing) education who have been accepted into an accredited college or university program.
The Pemberton Respiratory Fund is named for L. Beaty Pemberton, MD who founded the respiratory program at PCR. The fund supports student accepted in the respiratory therapy program at Columbus Technical College. Current employees receive preferential review of their application and non-employees are provided a career opportunity at Piedmont Columbus upon graduation.
The Sue Schley Mathews Education Fund was established to support pediatric nurses pursuing continuing education or certification.
The Fred Aranas Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Fred Aranas, M.D., a local radiologist. This scholarship is for PCR employees or students seeking a radiology degree at Columbus Technical College. Current employees receive preferential review of their application and non-employees are provided a career opportunity at Piedmont Columbus upon graduation.
The following are scholarships for those working at the John B. Amos Cancer Center (JBACC).
- The Fran Branch Caregiver Fund is for both nurses, techs and other caregivers who are seeking to attend an oncology conference or continuing education in oncology.
- The John Watson Oncology Staff Education Fund is available for oncology nurses and staff for continuing education or certification status in oncology.
All accredited universities and community colleges within the Piedmont Columbus Regional service area are qualified education partners through these scholarships.
