A New and Improved Intensive Care Unit
Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown is undergoing a significant renovation and expansion to increase its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) space. Work is underway to build 43 new ICU beds and renovate a 15-bed nursing unit. Construction is tentatively set to be completed in March 2026.
The project is much-needed to expand our critical care area — so our committed team of doctors, intensivists, nurses and support staff can better provide lifesaving patient-centered health care to meet the needs of the growing Columbus and Chattahoochee Valley area.

More About the Project
- Construction will generally take place Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 99,038 square foot project.
- New ICU rooms will be 2.5x the size of the existing layout.
- Vertical expansion next to the existing Midtown hospital tower.
- The current Midtown facility has been in place since 1983.
